I don't dispute MacT's willingness to make changes ... I just don't think there will be as much opportunity, as he and many hope, to make those changes.

Outside of a relatively weak FA market, I don't think many teams will be too anxious to help bolster our roster without getting some young, legitimate talent in return.

He's perfectly fine. If healthy, he belongs in any NHL defensive corps. Only as a 6th or 7th dman, but with injuries on the rise, it's never a bad thing to have 7-8 nhl calibre dmen. I think the oilers would be remiss if they decided to walk away from re-signing him at a reasonable price.

He was on pace for a 60+ point season from the backend that year. Then he broke his foot Forsberg style. Now he's slow and irrelevant to our team.

There will be many more UFA's after the buyout period this year. I am still optimistic we can land a couple good pieces this year.

I think they just announced that he's already won it but that was SI reporting and we know how they feel about Edmonton. Oh yeah, and eakins gets the jack adams, shultz gets the norris, rnj gets the selke, hall gets the richard, eberle gets the lady bing, drouin (who they'll trade up to get according to SI) wins the calder and horcoff wins the art ross.

Would we find something there that we don't already have in Smid and Nick Schultz? It's not that those guys wouldn't help, but beyond more reliable depth we really need that dynamic two-way guy.
